Find a nearby food program\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.chicagosfoodbank.org\/find-food\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>The Food Depository&#8217;s benefits outreach team is available by phone to help Chicagoans apply for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and\u00a0Medicaid benefits.<\/li>\n<li>For benefits outreach assistance, call 773-843-5416 on Mondays-Fridays between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. or apply directly with the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/abe.illinois.gov\/abe\/access\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Illinois Department of\u00a0Human Services.<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div><strong>2) \u00a0The Salvation Army\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>The Salvation Army&#8217;s Metropolitan Division Emergency Disaster Services (EDS) will be providing mobile feeding services.<\/li>\n<li>The Salvation Army&#8217;s 19 Chicagoland food pantries remain open to provide curbside service and will continue to serve as a resource for anyone who needs\u00a0assistance.<\/li>\n<li>For more information on emergency assistance, please call 773-725-1100 or visit their\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/centralusa.salvationarmy.org\/metro\/coronavirus-disease\/?utm_source=website&amp;utm_medium=direct&amp;utm_campaign=Coronavirus\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">website<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div><strong>3) \u00a0Chicago Public Schools (CPS)<\/strong><\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>All schools &#8211; representing 600 district schools and 27 charters schools &#8211; are open Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., to provide grab-and-go meals\u00a0(breakfast and lunch). Families will receive three meals a day for each young person in the household.<\/li>\n<li>If families have trouble getting to a site, they can call 773-553-KIDS or email\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:familyservices@cps.edu\">familyservices@cps.edu<\/a>\u00a0to make a request for food delivery. To access\u00a0other services, please call 312-655-7700.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>HOUSING ASSISTANCE GRANT PROGRAM<\/strong><br \/>\nMayor Lori E. Lightfoot and the Department of Housing (DOH)\u00a0created\u00a0a COVID-19 Housing Assistance Grant program to assist Chicagoans who have lost their jobs or otherwise been impacted by the economic fallout from\u00a0the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>Made possible by a partnership with the Family Independence Initiative (FII), DOH will deploy $2 million from the Affordable Housing Opportunity Fund (AHOF) to fund one-time grants to help impacted Chicagoans with rent\u00a0and mortgage payments.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The fund will award 2,000 individual grants in the amount of $1,000. Half of these grants will be awarded through a lottery system, while the other half will be\u00a0distributed by non-profit community organizations across the city.<\/li>\n<li>Chicago residents experiencing temporary financial hardships due to COVID-19 will be able to\u00a0apply online via the DOH Online Intake Portal\u00a0by clicking\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/forms.office.com\/Pages\/ResponsePage.aspx?id=qc02cC0GUUGBRJfdxW5wJ6DY83Xq2vZCuA8Qkr1ZCnhUNFFNOUlITUUxVFFRUVJRUjJCSE4zQVpCTC4u\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Awards are expected to be awarded between early and mid-April and\u00a0residents have until 11:59 p.m. April 1st \u00a0to apply.<\/p>\n<p><strong>SHOULD I GO TO MY DOCTOR AND GET TESTED FOR COVID-19?<\/strong><br \/>\nIf you fall into any of the below categories, you may increase\u00a0your risk for a serious viral infection including:<\/p>\n<div>\u2022 60 years or older;<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 Are pregnant;<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 Have underlying medical conditions like heart disease, lung disease, or diabetes<\/div>\n<p>Call your primary care provider and ask if you need to be evaluated in person. If you do\u00a0NOT have a high-risk condition and your symptoms are mild, you do NOT need to be\u00a0evaluated in person and do NOT need to be tested for COVID-19.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/chicagohealthonline.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chicago Health\u00a0\u00a0magazine<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0has provided a helpful graphic to distinguish the difference in symptoms from other seasonal illnesses.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-16992 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/rnrachicago.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/04\/Chicago-Health-Chart.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1080\" height=\"1828\" \/><br \/>\nIn\u00a0adults, emergency warning signs include:<\/p>\n<div>\u2022 Difficulty\u00a0breathing\u00a0or shortness of breath<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 Persistent pain or pressure in the chest<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 New confusion or difficulty awakening the person<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 Bluish lips or face<\/div>\n<p>Only use 911 in an emergency. Use 311 if you have questions or concerns regarding COVID-19.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MENTAL HEALTH RESOURCES<\/strong><br \/>\nEmotional reactions to this emerging health crisis are expected. The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.chicago.gov\/city\/en\/depts\/bacp\/supp_info\/covid19resources.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">site<\/a>\u00a0includes information about financial assistance resources available\u00a0throughout Chicago via the\u00a0Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection (BACP).<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.connect2capital.com\/partners\/chicago-small-business-resiliency-fund\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chicago Small Business Resiliency Fund<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/us.accion.org\/news\/covid-19-hospitality-business-grant-program\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity Hospitality Emergency Grant Program<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sba.gov\/disaster-assistance\/coronavirus-covid-19\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">U.S. Small Business Administration<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Business owners are encouraged to learn more about upcoming <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chicago.gov\/city\/en\/depts\/bacp\/sbc\/business_educationworkshopcalendar.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">BACP\u00a0webinars<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>WHAT GUIDANCE IS THE CITY PROVIDING TO ESSENTIAL WOKERS (E.G. CONSTRUCTION WORKERS, STREETS AND SANITATION) AROUND COVID-19?<\/strong><br \/>\nThere have been some concerns about the close contact and practices of some essential workers.\u00a0Under the stay at home order, management and workers must comply with social\u00a0distancing requirements, which include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Maintaining a distance of at least six feet from other individuals.<\/li>\n<li>Washing hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds as frequently as possible or using hand sanitizer.<\/li>\n<li>Cover coughs or sneezes (into the sleeve or elbow, not hands), regularly cleaning high-touch surfaces, and not shaking hands.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>More specifically, the Department of Buildings is working closely with the Department of Public Health and Chicago&#8217;s construction industry to ensure companies are taking\u00a0appropriate precautions to protect their workers. Many construction projects have implemented more stringent infection control measures, and if so, those should continue as well.<\/p>\n<p>The Department of Buildings continues to process permits and will be\u00a0available\u00a0to\u00a0answer questions and assist\u00a0companies in\u00a0any way possible. To learn more about the Department\u00a0of Buildings process at this time, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chicago.gov\/city\/en\/depts\/bldgs\/provdrs\/permits\/alerts\/2020\/march\/COVID19Precautions.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">click\u00a0here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CHICAGO TRANSIT AUTHORITY (CTA) UPDATES<\/strong><br \/>\nCTA is operating on a normal service schedule for those who need to get to critical jobs or need to travel for essential services. Additionally, CTA has several measures to assist\u00a0residents in this difficult time.<\/p>\n<p>CTA will be offering a one-time credit for any remaining days left on an active 7- or 30-day pass. Below, residents can find information regarding Ventra passes and other steps that\u00a0can be taken to reduce cost burden.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Unlimited ride passes\u00a0(1-, 3-, 7- 30-day passes): Passes are only activated when tapped at a rail station or on a bus, so if you do not need to ride CTA using one of these passes,\u00a0simply save your Ventra Card, with inactive passes until things return to normal. You can log in to your account online or through the app to see if you have any active or\u00a0inactive passes.<\/li>\n<li>Deactivating autoload feature: If you have autoload enabled, you can easily deactivate this feature through the Ventra app or on their\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ventrachicago.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">website<\/a>. It&#8217;s just as\u00a0easy\u00a0to re-activate\u00a0autoload when things get back to normal.<\/li>\n<li>Pre-tax transit benefits: If you use your employer&#8217;s pre-tax transit benefits program, you can contact your employer&#8217;s administrator to turn off a 30-day pass or transit value\u00a0deposits. These deposits generally occur on the 26th\u00a0of each month. Please note that employers of third-party administrators may take some time to process your request.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For further questions or assistance with your Ventra Card or account, call 877-NOW-VENTRA or visit\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ventrachicago.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ventrachicago.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>PARKING VIOLATIONS FAQ<\/strong><br \/>\nMayor Lightfoot announced a series of measures that would provide economic relief to residents, including a pause in debt collection for tickets, booting and driver&#8217;s license\u00a0suspension for driving violations.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Now through April 30, the City has relaxed enforcement for certain types of violations including city stickers, expired plates, street sweeping and residential parking permit\u00a0violations.<\/li>\n<li>While the City has reduced its workforce related to parking meter enforcement, motorists are still required to pay for metered parking during this crisis.<\/li>\n<li>Failure to feed the meter may result in a ticket.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>OTHER VEHICLE RESOURCES<\/strong><br \/>\nAs of Wednesday, March 18th at 5 p.m. all Office of the City Clerk locations have been temporarily closed. City Stickers and other products like Residential Parking Permits and dog\u00a0licenses are available for purchase on the Office of the City Clerk&#8217;s website,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ezbuy.chicityclerk.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ezbuy.chicityclerk.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>All of Aldermanic Sellers are currently closed. Residential Parking Permits are not sold at third party locations.<\/p>\n<p>The City Clerk team is currently working on a back charge and late fee waiver period to provide some relief for those who are unable to purchase or renew their stickers during this\u00a0time.<\/p>\n<p>The Office of the City Clerk will be waiving late fees and back charges on City Stickers from March 19, 2020 to April 30, 2020 for residents whose stickers were up for renewal in\u00a0January, February or March 2020. These dates may be extended should the Office of the City Clerk be closed past April 30, 2020.
