You know your home, your building, your street, your park, your parking ramp, OUR\u00a0neighborhood \u00a0\u0336 \u00a0so if you see something that isn\u2019t right, please report it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>RULE #2: When in doubt CALL 9-1-1\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"..\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/Call-911-300x201.jpg\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rnrachicago.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/Call-911-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/rnrachicago.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/Call-911.jpg 499w\" alt=\"\" width=\"107\" height=\"72\" \/>It is better to be safe and let the 9-1-1 call taker determine if you need emergency assistance. Always err on the side of caution.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Important Public Safety Resources<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A number of Chicago Police Department and city resources are available to report\u00a0your public safety concerns. Below is guidance on how to make the right call. You can also read the\u00a0<a href=\"..\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/Make-The-Right-Call.pdf\">Make The Right Call<\/a>\u00a0cheat sheet.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Emergency Services 9-1-1<\/strong>: Call 9-1-1 if there is an emergency or a crime is in-progress that <em>requires an immediate response<\/em> from police, fire, or emergency medical services (EMS).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Non-Emergency Services 3-1-1<\/strong>: Call 3-1-1 if there is a non-emergency situation that does not involve a crime in progress, does not pose an imminent threat to life, and\/or does not involve bodily injury or major property damage or loss. Some examples: filing a police report after a crime has occurred and the offender is gone, if your neighbor leaves the dog in the yard all night barking, or if you hear\u00a0a car alarm or other disturbing noise in the night.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>City Services 3-1-1<\/strong>: \u00a0Call 3-1-1 to report service needs\u00a0such as streetlights that are out or dangerous potholes. You can become eligible for a reward up to $1,00o! Or the <strong>12th District Near West station<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/home.chicagopolice.org\/community\/districts\/12th-district-near-west\/\">here<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>T<\/strong><strong>alk to an officer in-person<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"..\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/Talking-to-Officer-300x201.jpg\" width=\"215\" height=\"144\" \/>There are a number of opportunities every month to discuss a public safety concern directly with a CAPS officer including the 18th District \u00a0BEAT Meetings. \u00a0 Watch the <strong><a href=\"..\/rnra-events\/\">RNRA Event Calendar<\/a><\/strong> for special Meet and Greet Meetings.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Community Concerns Portal<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You can also fill out a <a href=\"http:\/\/operations.chicagopolice.org\/CommunityConcerns\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Community Concerns form<\/a> which will be routed directly\u00a0to the 18th District CAPS office for review and action.<\/p>\n<p>A community concern can be defined as a concern or issue brought to the attention of the Chicago Police Department by residents of the community. It should be criminal, quality of life or neighborhood disorder in nature, which <em>affects more than one person<\/em><em> and should be addressed<\/em> by the police, city services and the community.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"..\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/Community-Concerns-300x206.jpg\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/rnrachicago.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/Community-Concerns-300x206.jpg 300w, https:\/\/rnrachicago.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/Community-Concerns.jpg 499w\" alt=\"\" width=\"212\" height=\"146\" \/>By working together, the police and community can share the development and implementation of proactive problem solving strategies to identify chronic issues.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CLEARmap Crime Database<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For the most up-to-date information about crime in our community, please reference the Chicago Police Department CLEARmap system which can be found <a href=\"http:\/\/home.chicagopolice.org\/online-services\/clearmap\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>.\u00a0This system holds\u00a0interactive maps of crime data, registered offenders, community concerns, and Chicago Police locations.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"..\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/Crime-Database-300x201.jpg\" width=\"214\" height=\"144\" \/><\/p>\n<p>You can search by\u00a0address, community area, police beat and district, or around a school or park. You can also search by a custom drawn polygon or a name. These are urgent notices that serve as public safety watch-outs for individuals and our\u00a0community.<\/p>\n<p>Follow &#8220;NEWS&#8221; on both <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rnrachicago.org\">RNRAChicago.org<\/a> and our mobile app, <a href=\"..\/myrivernorth\/\">My River North<\/a>, where Community Alerts are posted the same day they are received from CPD.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Not sure who to call?
