{"id":10862,"date":"2018-08-29T16:21:51","date_gmt":"2018-08-29T21:21:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rnrachicago.org\/?p=10862"},"modified":"2018-08-29T16:21:51","modified_gmt":"2018-08-29T21:21:51","slug":"bridge-lift-breakfast-dates-set-watch-michigan-ave-bridge-lift-from-inside-towers-gear-room","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsite.rnrachicago.org\/?p=10862","title":{"rendered":"Bridge Lift Breakfast Dates Set: Watch Michigan Ave. Bridge Lift From Inside Tower\u2019s Gear Room"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-10866\" src=\"https:\/\/rnrachicago.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/bridge-gears-best.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1230\" height=\"823\" \/><\/p>\n<p>One of Chicago\u2019s most unique eating experiences is back: the McCormick Bridgehouse &amp; Chicago River Museum\u2019s Bridge Lift Breakfast resumes in September in the southwest tower of the Michigan Avenue bridge.<\/p>\n<p>Noshers can view the raising and lowering of the DuSable Bridge (Michigan Avenue) from inside the Gear Room of the museum located in the five-story, 98-year-old bridge tower while enjoying a light breakfast of\u00a0bagels, muffins, pastries, coffee and fruit by Corner Bakery Caf\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>Recently named one of \u201cThe Most \u2018Chicago\u2019 Things To Do In Chicago\u201d by Thrillist, the five-story McCormick Bridgehouse &amp; Chicago River Museum is operated by the non-profit environmental group Friends of the\u00a0Chicago River.<\/p>\n<p>The museum offers spectacular views of the Riverwalk, the Chicago River and the skyline along Michigan Avenue as well as the machinery of the bascule bridge. Chicago\u2019s fall season is marked by boats returning\u00a0from Lake Michigan to their winter storage on the Chicago River requiring the raising and lowering of the city\u2019s iconic bridges.<\/p>\n<p>The Saturday Bridge Lift Breakfasts are scheduled for\u00a0September 22nd, September 29th, October 6th,\u00a0October 20th\u00a0and\u00a0October 27th.<\/p>\n<p>Call the museum at 312-977-0227 or email\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:JColes@chicagoriver.org\">JColes@chicagoriver.org<\/a>\u00a0to make a reservation. Bridge Lift Breakfasts are $15 per person.
