Thousands of Chicagoans have participated in the Shared Cost\u00a0Sidewalk Program, taking advantage of a low-cost, exceptional value, and ease of participation.<\/p>\n<p>The cost-per-square-foot charged to property owners is well below what a private contractor would charge. Senior citizens and persons with disabilities may qualify for a further discounted rate.<\/p>\n<p>All property owners with\u00a0non-vaulted\u00a0sidewalks are eligible to participate.<\/p>\n<p>T<strong>he Shared Cost Sidewalk Program will begin accepting applicants on January 7th, 2020 at 6:00 am. Applications can be filed by calling 311, or filed online at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/311.chicago.gov\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/311.chicago.gov<\/a>\u00a0by using the Service\u00a0Request Type: &#8220;Shared Cost Sidewalk Program Request&#8221;.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Applications will be taken on a first-come, first-serve basis, and any applications made\u00a0<strong>BEFORE<\/strong>\u00a06:00 am on January 7 will\u00a0<strong>NOT<\/strong>\u00a0be accepted. The number of participants is based on the availability of funds. The\u00a0program reaches capacity quickly, so you are encouraged to apply at 6:00 am.<\/p>\n<p>Please note that if you applied for the program in previous years, you must apply again in 2020.
