Restricted access will be in place from 9 p.m.\u00a0&#8211; 6 a.m. <em>(Note:\u00a0some streets will begin to reopen as early as 5 a.m. with access restored by 6 a.m.).\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Office of Emergency Management and Communications is coordinating efforts with various city\u00a0departments and sister agencies on the response.\u00a0Following the looting and civil unrest experienced\u00a0in the early hours of Monday morning, the City will continue to implement its Neighborhood\u00a0Protection\u00a0Plan across all of Chicago&#8217;s communities.<\/p>\n<p>As part of an all-hands-on-deck safety plan, OEMC will deploy more than 100 infrastructure assets\u00a0from the Department of Transportation, the Department\u00a0of Streets and Sanitation and the Water\u00a0Department, who are working in concert with the Chicago Police Department to keep residents safe\u00a0citywide.\u00a0These resources have been deployed throughout the city &#8211; particularly along our\u00a0neighborhood commercial corridors &#8211; to further protect our\u00a0communities&#8217; residents and critical\u00a0businesses, such as grocery stores and pharmacies.<\/p>\n<p>The Chicago Police Department citywide teams will be used to supplement staffing for the districts,\u00a0including the downtown area. Additionally, district-assigned officers whose shifts have been\u00a0extended and days off canceled will be dedicated to neighborhoods across the city.<\/p>\n<p><strong>This evening through Monday, August 17 at 6 a.m., access to the downtown area will be temporarily restricted from 9 p.m.-6 a.m.<\/strong>\u00a0The restricted access to\u00a0the downtown area is\u00a0<strong>NOT<\/strong>\u00a0a curfew. All\u00a0residents, workers and employers whose businesses are located downtown will have access at all\u00a0times. As part\u00a0of the restricted access, the following measures will be in place until further notice:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Lake Shore Drive will be closed between:<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>\u2022 Fullerton Avenue (in-bound\/out-bound ramps) on the North and I-55 on the South<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 Belmont (in-bound ramp only)<\/div>\n<p><strong>Downtown Bridges (all bridges will be up by 9 p.m. with the exception of the following):<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>\u2022 LaSalle Street<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 Harrison Street<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 Ida B. Wells\/Congress Bridge (West Bound Open Only)<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 Lake Shore Drive<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 Columbus Avenue<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 Kinzie Street<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 Grand Avenue<\/div>\n<p><strong>Access Points for residents and employees of area businesses: \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>\u2022 Harrison Street<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 Chicago Avenue and Halsted Street<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 Roosevelt Road and Canal Street<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 Kinzie Street and Halsted\u00a0Street<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 LaSalle Street<\/div>\n<p><strong>Expressway Closures:<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>\u2022 All entrance and exit expressway ramps leading to I-90\/94 between Roosevelt Road and Division Street will be closed in both directions, including the\u00a0I-55 Chinatown Feeder northbound at Cermak and I-290 eastbound at Halsted.<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>CTA:<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>\u2022 Rail Service will be impacted at the following locations, with trains not entering the area surrounding downtown: Fullerton Avenue to 47th and east of\u00a0Halsted Street<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 Bus Service will remain open at this time. Some buses will see reroutes due to bridge and street closures.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p><strong>CDOT<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<div>\u2022 Divvy Service will not be available from North Avenue to Ashland Avenue and Cermak Road between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.<\/div>\n<p>Access points are designated for residents, all workers and employers whose businesses are located\u00a0within the designated boundaries, individuals who\u00a0reside in the surrounding area and residents\u00a0engaged in essential activities.<\/p>\n<p>Entrance into the perimeter will be manned by officers with the Chicago Police Department.\u00a0<strong>When arriving at the access points, residents and employees\u00a0should show identification or proof that they live in the area and\/or work in the area. \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>UPCOMING PROTESTS\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Alderman Reilly&#8217;s office has been made aware of the following protests scheduled for this weekend.\u00a0Please note\u00a0that Aldermanic approval is not required\u00a0for these types of demonstrations, as the right to peaceful protests is protected under the First Amendment.<\/p>\n<p>As a reminder to residents, the Chicago Police Department citywide teams will be\u00a0used to\u00a0supplement\u00a0staffing\u00a0in various districts this weekend, including\u00a0the downtown.\u00a0Please use caution\u00a0and allow for extra time\u00a0when\u00a0traveling in the area.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1st District<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Thursday, 13 August 2020\u00a0at 5:00pm\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>\u2022 &#8220;A Protest Leading up to the Dan Ryan Shutdown&#8221; will assemble at Jackson Boulevard and State Street, near the Jackson CTA Red Line.<\/div>\n<p><strong>Friday, 14 August 2020\u00a0at 5:00pm\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>\u2022 &#8220;BLM March &amp; Rally: 75 Women of Color Murdered Memorial&#8221; will assemble at Daley Plaza &#8211; 50 W.
