{"id":2159,"date":"2014-06-23T23:42:31","date_gmt":"2014-06-24T04:42:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rnrachicago.org\/?p=2159"},"modified":"2014-06-23T23:42:31","modified_gmt":"2014-06-24T04:42:31","slug":"dearborn-street-bridge-closed-tuesday-june-24-through-monday-june-30","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsite.rnrachicago.org\/?p=2159","title":{"rendered":"Dearborn Street Bridge  Closed Tuesday, June 24 through Monday, June 30"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1403499561680_166108\" class=\"yiv1375102991MsoNormal\"><span id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1403499561680_166107\" style=\"color: #000000;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/rnrachicago.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/dearborn-street-bridge.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-2160\" src=\"https:\/\/rnrachicago.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/dearborn-street-bridge.jpg\" alt=\"dearborn street bridge\" width=\"147\" height=\"110\" \/><\/a>The Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) will close the Dearborn Street Bridge over the Chicago River to vehicular, bicycle and pedestrian traffic on Tuesday, June 24.\u00a0 To complete the Riverwalk Construction project, the contractor must raise the Dearborn Street Bridge for an extended period of time to construct a pedestrian underbridge to connect the path below.\u00a0 The bridge will re-open at <span id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1403499561680_166113\">8 p.m. on Monday, June 30<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"yiv1375102991MsoNormal\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0 <\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The Dearborn Street Bridge Closure begins at 7:00am on Tuesday, June 24th and lasts through 8:00pm on Monday, June 30.<\/span><\/b><b><\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1403499561680_166114\" class=\"yiv1375102991MsoNormal\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1403499561680_166115\">For the Dearborn Bridge closure, all vehicles including CTA buses, will be detoured west on Wacker Drive, north on Lasalle Street, east on Illinois Street to Dearborn.\u00a0 Northbound bicycles on Dearborn will detour east on Lake Street, north on State Street, west on Kinzie Street, then back to Dearborn. Southbound bikes on will detour west on Kinzie Street, south on Clark Street, then return to Dearborn via Lake Street. <b>Click here<\/b> (LINK) to download the detour map.\u00a0 The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) will also be rerouting buses as needed and will post signs at bus stops.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1403499561680_166185\" class=\"yiv1375102991MsoNormal\"><span id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1403499561680_166184\" style=\"color: #000000;\">The State Street Bridge closure will occur in mid-July.<\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1403499561680_166182\" class=\"yiv1375102991MsoNormal\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>Project Overview:<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1403499561680_166181\" class=\"yiv1375102991MsoNormal\"><span id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1403499561680_166180\" style=\"color: #000000;\">The Chicago Riverwalk project will create a continuous pedestrian path along the south bank of the Main Branch of the Chicago River from State Street to Lake Street. Construction of the underbridge connections will require lifting and closing the bridges for a period of several days each.<\/span><\/p>\n<p id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1403499561680_166130\" class=\"yiv1375102991MsoNormal\"><span id=\"yui_3_16_0_1_1403499561680_166129\" style=\"color: blue;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The bridges over the river establish a boundary between each Riverwalk block, which will allow each to have a unique identity and landscaping, linked by the continuous walkway along the river, beneath each bridge.
