The City of Chicago in coordination with Bally\u2019s Chicago is hosting a\u00a0Virtual\u00a0Community Meeting\u00a0on Tuesday, July 19th at 6 PM\u00a0regarding the temporary\u00a0casino at the Medinah Temple, 600 North Wabash Street.\u00a0Click here to register\u00a0for the virtual meeting.<\/a><\/span><\/div>\n

At this meeting, Bally\u2019s Chicago will present its plans with respect to historic\u00a0preservation and answer questions related to historic preservation of the\u00a0Medinah Temple, since it is a Chicago Landmark. This is in advance of the\u00a0Landmark Department’s Permit Review Committee review of the project,\u00a0scheduled to take place in August.<\/div>\n

The community may submit any questions or comments in advance via email to\u00a0chicagocasino@cityofchicago.org<\/span><\/a>. Additional public engagement related to\u00a0traffic, public safety, and other community concerns will take place at an in-person public engagement session in the near future. However, the July 19th\u00a0meeting will focus solely on historic preservation.<\/strong><\/div>\n

The Mayor\u2019s Office also recently announced the creation of a\u00a0Casino Community\u00a0Advisory Council (CAC)\u00a0in order to create a forum for ongoing community\u00a0engagement throughout the development of the Bally\u2019s Casino. The CAC will have 20\u00a0members representing impacted community areas, as well as subject matter experts in\u00a0a range of fields including transportation\/infrastructure, economic equity, and gambling\u00a0addiction. If you are interested in serving on this CAC, please\u00a0apply here<\/a><\/span>\u00a0by Friday,\u00a0July 15.<\/div>\n

The casino proposal is still awaiting review by the Chicago Plan Commission\u00a0(CPC) to discuss the proposed amendment to the Planned Development. CPC\u00a0will also allow for additional public comment. After CPC, the Illinois Gaming\u00a0Board (IGB) will consider the application and there will be another opportunity for\u00a0the public to weigh in on the issuance of the casino license.
