{"id":8297,"date":"2018-01-02T22:21:21","date_gmt":"2018-01-02T22:21:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rnrachicago.org\/?p=8297"},"modified":"2018-01-02T22:21:21","modified_gmt":"2018-01-02T22:21:21","slug":"city-of-chicago-annual-tree-recyling-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsite.rnrachicago.org\/?p=8297","title":{"rendered":"City of Chicago Annual Tree Recyling Program"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-8298\" src=\"https:\/\/rnrachicago.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Tree-Recycling-300x169.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"169\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>City of Chicago Announces Annual Holiday Tree Recycling Program<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Recycle your holiday tree and receive free mulch when available.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Chicago Department of Streets and Sanitation (DSS), in partnership with the Chicago Park District, announced that the City&#8217;s annual holiday tree\u00a0recycling program will run from Saturday, January 6 through Saturday, January 20, 2018, at 25 locations citywide.<\/p>\n<p>The holiday tree recycling program is not able to accept wreaths or garlands. \u00a0Ornaments, lights, tinsels, and tree stands must be removed before the\u00a0tree is dropped off and trees should be removed from any bags when placed in the tree recycling corrals.<\/p>\n<p>Trees recycled through the program are turned into mulch, wood chips for use at Chicago Park Districts and materials for use by the Metropolitan\u00a0Water Reclamation District.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, the program mulched more than 21,000 trees. Free mulch will be available for residents to pick-up beginning on January 8, at six designated\u00a0locations.<\/p>\n<p>Participating locations include:<br \/>\n(*free mulch locations)<\/p>\n<div>\u2022 Bessemer Park, 8930 S. Central Park Ave.<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 Grant Park, 900 S. Columbus Dr.<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 Humboldt Park Boathouse, 1369 N. Sacramento Ave.<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 Jackson Park, 6300 S. Cornell Ave.<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 Kennedy Park, 2427 W. 113th St.<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 Kelvyn Park, 4438 W. Wrightwood Ave.<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 Lake Meadows Park, 3117 S.
