{"id":8945,"date":"2018-03-24T14:30:15","date_gmt":"2018-03-24T14:30:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rnrachicago.org\/?p=8945"},"modified":"2018-03-24T14:30:15","modified_gmt":"2018-03-24T14:30:15","slug":"bank-of-america-shamrock-shuffle-8k-this-sunday-march-25-2018-impacts-loop-area-residents","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/newsite.rnrachicago.org\/?p=8945","title":{"rendered":"Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8K this Sunday, March 25, 2018 Impacts Loop Area Residents"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-8947\" src=\"https:\/\/rnrachicago.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Shamrock-Shuffle-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<p>As preparations begin for one of Chicago&#8217;s classic races in the downtown area, the Chicago Office of Emergency Management and\u00a0Communications (OEMC) reminds residents of the traffic impacts for the set up and duration of the 39th annual Bank of America\u00a0Shamrock Shuffle 8K race on\u00a0Sunday, March 25, 2018, which includes over 25,000 runners.<\/p>\n<p>The Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle 8K on Sunday starts in two waves, with the first wave beginning at 8:30am and the second\u00a0wave taking off at 9am. The 2-mile walk with an estimated 1,000 participants, begins at 9:30am.<\/p>\n<p>Traffic Impacts:<br \/>\nAs in years past, organizers are working with the Chicago Police Department and OEMC to ensure that street closures follow a\u00a0&#8220;rolling pattern&#8221; so as the last participant passes, the street will reopen and traffic will return to normal as quickly as possible.<\/p>\n<p>Street closures will be in effect in the Grant Park area for preparations and set up of the event:<\/p>\n<p>Friday, March 23, through Sunday morning:<\/p>\n<div>\u2022 Balbo, from Columbus to Lake Shore Drive<\/div>\n<p>Early Saturday morning, March 24:<\/p>\n<div>\u2022 Columbus, from Roosevelt to Monroe<\/div>\n<p>Sunday, March 25, approximately 8am to 11:15am:<\/p>\n<div>\u2022 Columbus, from Monroe to Randolph<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 Columbus, from Roosevelt to Grand<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 Grand, from Columbus to State<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 State, from Grand to Jackson<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 Jackson, State to LaSalle<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 LaSalle from Jackson to Randolph<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 Randolph, from LaSalle to Franklin<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 Franklin, Randolph to Harrison<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 Harrison, from Franklin to Michigan<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 S. Michigan, (northbound lanes) from Harrison to Roosevelt<\/div>\n<div>\u2022 Roosevelt, (westbound lanes) from Michigan to Columbus<\/div>\n<p>Columbus, from Monroe to Randolph will also be closed in the early morning hours of Sunday, March 25<\/p>\n<p>Lake Shore Drive will remain open during the race.<\/p>\n<p>For detailed information about the timing of street closures and a course map, please\u00a0click <a href=\"http:\/\/ward42chicago.com\/documents\/1584_001.pdf\">here.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>For more information on the race and course, see the website at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.shamrockshuffle.com\">www.shamrockshuffle.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>City streets will re-open promptly as the final runners pass through (at a 15-minute mile pace). The Chicago Police Department will\u00a0be responsible for closing and re-opening streets, they will do so in a manner ensuring runner and spectator safety.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to race day route closures, residents and businesses should also be aware of the parking restrictions along the race\u00a0course on Sunday. Vehicles not removed by that time will be ticketed and towed.
